AGP Tour to save FPS games!

AGP Tour to save FPS games! AGP - newly founded organization by Jarod "Streetrunner" Reisin will focus its activity on FPS 1v1 games! This is a really great news for us, beacuse we are lacking some tournament activity in FPS games scene. If it will be stable, well-organized tours - it can be a step into the future of FPS games and esprots in general! Let’s take a look on other big organizations - they always are small in the beginning, but grow huge, recieve some sponsors and attract people with their activity. The press release doesn’t garantee all that, but let’s hope we’ll see some more news from this organization!

" The AGP Tour will be presenting First Person Shooter (FPS) 1v1 action in ways never before seen. The prime focus of each production will be on the professional player and the action of the game in a made for TV environment, with the ability to stream each match online via the official site. Each match will have full in game statistics available to the viewer, player interviews, live commentating, and “…many surprises”, says Jarod Reisin, President and founder of the AGP Tour™. “FPS 1v1 has all of the action, skill, and excitement of a true sport. We are going to celebrate it and its players with their established celebrity and fan bases by presenting their long and diverse histories and the intense drama and amazing skill these games provide. Finally the time has come where all of the communities can unite and FPS 1v1 fans around the world can watch their favorite games and players fight it out at the highest level of competition ”.

Beginning in 2009, the AGP Tour™ will be hosting four international tournaments, called the AGP Majors. Held every three months, each Major will feature one FPS 1v1 game. Following each Major, a new game season will begin based on another 1v1 FPS title.

The games chosen for 2009 season:

  • Quake 3 Arena / or Quake Live
  • Quake 4
  • Unreal Tournament 3
  • Warsow

Each season some polls will be announced and players can chose the games they would like to see the next season. This is done because of every year games evolution, so it’s a really great idea to take into consideration the players view.

Some update:

AGP Tour to save FPS games!FPS 1v1 Hasn’t died - a article made by SK.Carmac with the organizer of AGP Tour:

I don’t believe FPS 1v1 has died. I just believe that these poor decisions and lack of focus on the game and players has created such seperation, that fans really have nowhere to turn. And the players cannot stick around and put in the amazing amount of time it takes to be top with no hope of actually being able to play consistently or make enough money to even survive on. And the fans have ended up just giving up.

The deathmatch bigtime in 2009 - another i-view with Jarod Reisin made by Carmac. This part tells about FPS games and why 4 different games have to be placed on the same tournament:

We will forever have the fighting about everyone’s preferred game and how it is better or more skilled. Well, now it will be put on a pedestal and the fans will have a lot to talk about and watch. This in some ways will unite the communities. FPS 1v1 has some great communities, positive and negative. They all will now finally have a place to really see the encompassing of the entire FPS 1v1 sport in itself. Unity is everything. This format should allow a good percentage of each games fan base to unite. Yes, I know the QW fans and Q2 fans, and all of the UT’s prior to 3 among the tons of other potential games will not be satisfied. But we cannot have a tour of 20 games.
