Digital Games 2008 ignores the poll result
Published by Free June 10th, 2008 in Gaming, World events.
Few months ago, a poll for
Digital Games 2008 have been announced, an each fan/player could vote for the game of his choice to appear on the event. The qualifiers will be in each continent and the finals will be held in
China. Yesterday a sad information came from GGL admins, that announced the list for the event, it’s:
- Counter-Strike 1.6 5v5
- Soulcalibur 4 1v1
- Command & Conquer 3: Kane’s Wrath 1v1
- Burnout Paradise 1v1
- NBA Live 08 1v1
- NHL 08 1v1
- Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne 1v1
- Defense of the Ancients 5v5
- Trackmania Nations Forever 1v1
- Call of Duty 4 5v5
- FIFA
The organization just ignored the polls results, were
StarCraft and
Quake took the lead, and included the games people hear for the first time. We can make a conclusion, that once again money and PR of the products play the biggest role in games choice for the events. Hope the organiztion will overlook its decision and include two major esport games in the list.
Also the competition won’t have any cash prizes and winners of region qualifiers will have to pay their own airfare to the finals in
China. The gamers will compete for medals and if they won’t to visit the finals they have to pay their own trip.
The official announcement, the previous poll.
