EDL - the play-offs are ready to start!
Published by Free May 20th, 2008 in Articles, Quake 3.
The last match that actually ended the groups stage of
EDL was
Question vs
Wh3nom - where the Czech player just gave the win to his opponent, so we won’t see some demos and report from this game. Yesterday the play-offs bracket was made by
Legie, and we can start predicting the games. The schedule is announced, so you can watch the games on GTV.
Players:
KillMaster vs
zik - 26.05 @ 20:00
k1llsen vs
Krysa - 27.05 @ 20:00
Guard vs
Spart1e - 28.05 @ 20:00
Cypher vs
Question - 29.05 @ 20:00
Let’s try to predict the results.
Killmaster vs
Zik
In the first game Russian player
KillMaster (Dark) faces
zik. Both players are at the top of their skill now:
KillMaster has won the
ESWC qualifier and will attend the
Grand Finals in Moscow. Also he’s been attending
Asus Spring 2008 and showed pretty good result - and took 5-8 place - lost only to
Jibo and
Cypher.
zik has been attending
ESWC qualifier to
Grand Finals. He managed to win the Winners bracket final, but lost in the Grand Final to talanted player
matr0x. Still their activity in
Quake 3 scene is high and both players have lost only 1 match in the group stage.
Zik lost to
Guard - 1:2, and
Spart1e won over
KillMaster 2:1. This time Russian player seems to have more chances winning
Zik. He managed to beat
morfez and
Frozen on Asus, and lost only to famous players like
Jibo and
Cypher. The result will probably be 2:0, but still let’s hope
Zik will take 1 map and entertain us with nice play.
k1llsen vs
Krysa
This one is really doubtful.
Krysa performed nice play in the group stage winning
ProZac 2:0 and
Stalq3r 2:1. Czech player is practicing a lot and that’s seen on his results. He has been attending all online tourneys recently and his skill is growing very fast.
K1llsen hasn’t been seen in Quake scene for a while. This is probably the first online tourney he attends in a long time. He finished the group stage pretty confident - taking the first place and beating
Question, who has won last
QQC. This time I think it will be decided by expirience and in fact, German player has been having tournament and gaming expirience bit more than
Krysa. That’s why it’s probably the German player who’s going to win the match. The result will probably be 2:1,
Krysa is not the last person on this tournament.
Guard vs
Spart1e
Some unstable performance by
Spart1e (losing to
impulse the last game of the group stage), makes some doubts in this predictions. Still
Spart1e won over Russian player
KillMaster.
Guard won all of his matches in the group stage and shows some stable performane in all online events - he won 2nd place in the last QQC. This game will be equal (actually like all the previous ones), but still I think it’s
Guard who will win 2:1.
Cypher vs
Question
Top 1
Belorus player, top 5
Quake 4 player in the world, and one of the top players in Eastern Europe and in Europe in general,
Cypher will face one of the top players of
Russia, a really talanted person
Question, who won last QQC, where he faced
Guard. Only few days ago, Belorus player was attending
Asus Spring 2008, where he took the 4th place, losing to
Nike and
Makaveli. This was the end of unstoppable line of
Cypher’s victories - he was winning everything he attended since the
Asus Winter 2008 -
The Duck Hunt,
No Hunting,
QQC #11, and all the matches of the group stage of
EDL.
Cypher looks a level higher than
Question, but still there has to be some fight between this two players, and
Question will probably win one game. Predictions -
Cypher [2:1]
Question.

Good job! But still I think it’s Spart1e who’s going to win the match vs Guard…
