EuroCup XVII: UT3 1v1 Grand Final Live
Published by Free June 10th, 2008 in Articles, Unreal Tournament.
Today a match between top1
Unreal Tournament 3 dueler -
Hypno and a progressive player
Madjar will be played within the
EC XVII Grand Finals!
Hypno didn’t lose any set during the whole tournament and all the sets he was playing in various tournament ended in his favor. He shows stable performance and seems that nothing can stop him, while he’s in shape.
Madjar lost a set to
Zaccubus, but the last one gave his win to the French player and that’s where the
Madjar’s "skill revival" began. First French player won vs
kiLLzA and then an amazing performance versus
daddy.

The match of matches, the night of nights! Today is the (un)official, depends on whats played first, ending of the first season of the UT3 1v1 Duel cup. A lot of expected things happened as we progressed through this cup, look at Hypno, but we also saw some surprises, look at Madjar. Both players showed us what they are worth and how they stack up against the rest of the field. Both players cleared some impressive hurdles and may call themselves the rightfull finalists of the maiden cup.
The fact that Hypno managed to survive all the way to the final is because of two things. Obviously, his superb gaming skills, but also the friendly nature of the player. Hypno had his fair share of set backs and was unable to play on a few moments he was supposed to. All his opponents provided him with some slack and gave him the opportunity to show us why he won the play.com tournament and why he won the following i-series event (33?). He mowed down all the opposition and last week he finally cleared the last player, GoHLinK, who was unable to make a fist against a superior player that night.
The other finalist came as a surprise to me. At first I was rather negative about his chances, but it seemed as if his underdog position has made him bite off all that could fit in his mouth, and apparently, that’s quite a lot! After moving to the quarterfinals with a loss, he beat the living daylight out of both kiLLzA and daddy, which would make him this season’s German killer. Just as his opponent, he was able to fend off all who opposed him and claim a rightful place amongst the two final places.
This bout will be a best of three, which means that all the pleasure could end in a mere 2 maps, which is, if one of the players is able to take the opponents homemap! Hypno Deck performance against GoH was rather impressive and I doubt Madjar will be able to take that one away. Madjar on the other hand is prone to keep his map choice as well. The result of the map elimination round will greatly depend on the amount of frags made, which could lead to some tactical decision making!
My guess for this match is that Hypno has the odds in his favor, based on his track record and his drive to win in UT3. I hope this prediction will fire up Madjar once again as he has to prove his value against the golden boy of UT3 so far. Be sure to tune in to this match as it will likely be casted, Game on!
A nice interviews appeared on clanbase website made by
ooLaLa. He made the i-views with both players:

- Name: Gaspar Machado
- Nickname: 4K`Hypno
- Country:
Portugal, Lisabon - Age: 20
- Clan:
Four Kings
Could you please introduce yourself to the scene ?
Hypno: Hey there, my name is Gaspar Machado, I live in Portugal near Lisabon, I’m 20 years old, I’m currently studying in university, first year, and I’m playing for the gaming team, Four Kings.
This is the first ClanBase cup for Unreal tournament 3, you received a direct invite and you are playing the Grand Final now. Did you expect all this ?
Hypno: Well, since I’ve performed quite well in all tournaments I’ve been playing in, I kinda expected a direct invite. Reaching the final, no, I didn’t expect at all, because of a simple factor: my connection. I’m truly happy that I reached the final, it means a lot to me, actually means that I could outperform my country issue and show to other players that is possible to play with a little higher pings.
Your opponent, Madjar, wasn’t expected in the final at the start of this cup. He had some wicked groupstage run, and in the play-offs he just beated kiLLzA and daddy and got into the Final. Did you expect him in the final ? And how do you rate your chance VS him ?

Hypno: Ehe, well I didn’t really expect Madjar in the final indeed, even tho I know Madjar quite well, and know his potential, I noticed that lately he improved quite a lot, and he just proved himself recently
He did quite a good tournament at play.com, so he must not be under-rated at all. I think against him will be a really close game again, both of us are deck lovers and will be interesting to play and watch.
