The groups have been revealed and ESWC Masters of Paris is going to start on 5th of July. There are 24 players in the list - 6 players in each group devided by top and high seeds and challengers. Among "most famous" names - Zer04, czm, 
fox, fooki, 
Jibo, 
Cypher, ProZaC and k1llsen. There are 3 spots that will be given to the winners for Grand Finals. Now let’s have a closer look at what’s happening in the groups.

The event that all Quake community is waiting for - the 
ESWC Masters - has released its final players list. This event is going to start in 9 days, on July 4th and had to include 24 players. In fact it will include only 23 players and it’s:

Anton "Cooller" Singov will miss the event as well as fazz, who couldn’t find sponsors for the trip to ESWC, and if-22, who will miss the event due to work (they were replaced by noctis and vo0). Cooller told that he already qualified for the Grand Finals that’s why he won’t participate on the Masters. This kind of "inactivity" makes some doubts in his win on the Grand Finals. As we can see, Anton Singov isn’t in the best shape and if he won’t train he won’t be able to show his best.

ESWC 2008, so check it out - here. To remind what was happening back then - it’s Hunter who won the spot in the Grand Finals. Alf just gave him the win in the Finals and the last match that was played was Ghost vs Hunter @ dm6 - where the last one managed to win 20 to 12. There where only 11 players that attended, but in fact a lot of quakers just came to spectate and to drink some beer with their friends. The gallery was made by n1c3 and Matr1x from quaket.net - so thanks them a lot! Also we will upload all the photos from other disciplines (some of Quake photos were also taken from gameinside). There are also some pack of photos that aren’t in the gallery yet, and if you’re interested in watching them just leave a comment and we’ll upload it… Enjoy =)

The latest interview of Carmac is with a top 2 ESWC Netherlands - Sander "Vo0" Kaasjager. As we remember there was a kind of e-drama, when forever gave comment about admins of ESWC to give a second spot after the end of the event. Forever stated that he didn’t attend the event, because there was only one spot at the beginning, and then organization suddenly changed their mind…
But anyway, here’s a tip for the interview with Vo0:
" Vo0 is making his comeback to professional esports after being inactive for two and a half years. The Dutch player won almost $250,000 in prize money in 2005 playing PainKiller and was the most dominant player of his era. Now Vo0 is back in competitive FPS gaming after qualifying to the Quake 3 Electronic Sports World Cup Grand Final in San Jose. The ESWC Masters on July 5-6 will be the first step on the road towards the peak of the season.
It’s been… how many years since you showed your face at a professional competition? What have you been doing in the meantime?
I’ve had more than 2,5 years break from professional FPS tournaments. My last before the ESWC qualifier was the CPL World Tour Final in New York City on November 20-22, 2005. Game-wise I’ve been playing several games. Some World of Warcraft, I’ve played a month of Warsow, Played some UT3 when it came out. I have played some CPM, some QW, some of everything I guess.
Otherwise I’ve made the move to Amsterdam where I’m trying to start a good [university] course but I’m not really getting my grip as I can’t find the course that really suits me. I’m going to have to try this year again, though".

Some days ago Carmac made a nice i-view with legendary Fooki that took 2nd place on ESWC qualifiers, losing only to fox:
"Two weeks before the ESWC Masters of Paris, SK Gaming’s Karl "fooKi” Johansson talks about Quake 3 and his comeback to competitive gaming.
With his performance at DreamHack where he finished second, SK Gaming’s Karl ‘fooKi’ Johansson made a successful comeback to Quake 3. DreamHack was fooKi’s major test before the ESWC Masters. The Swedish player was absent from competitive gaming for well over a year and qualified for the ESWC Grand Final in San Jose at DH".
"Did you expect to qualify for the ESWC Grand Final?
I didn’t put much thought into it. I was going to see how well I could perform vs the top Swedes and to get some LAN practice. After my first games I was even surprised that I managed to get out of the group stage.
How do you rate your own performance at the event?
I would say that I played very inconsistently and disappointed myself in a lot of games, i.e. giving up too early when I got a bad start. I think the setup and everyone’s desire to qualify worked well to my advantage which made me win some games I probably wouldn’t have won usually."

Today European Duel League will hold th Finals where Cypher will meet Dark aka KillMaster that managed to win versus k1llsen. The Finals are going to be an awesome show of skill and the winner will recieve $100.

This Saturday 
Genius League held its finals. It was a LAN event with 8 players (along them Krysa & Legie). The main prize was an stereo system - Genius SW-HF 5.1 5005W and keyboard+mouse Genius - Twin ErgoMedia R710. All of these goodies took top 1 Czech Republic - Krysa.
The route of this player wasn’t as easy as it seems. He lost a game to Tyfoonem but came from the LB winning Legie, and then 2 BO3 in the Finals.

On January 21 Quake.cz crew started Nations Cup for all series of Quake. The idea was perfect, but realization wasn’t. Before the tournament started, we faced our first problem which was "Who will actually admin the tournament?". The problem was solved pretty quickly (thanks to the activity of Czech admins) and for each quake serie we picked admins as follows:
QuakeWorld was admined by famous Czech player and admin Johnny_cz, who flawlessly took care of QuakeWorld.
Quake 2 was held by server q2scene.net and Nations DeathMatch League and this was admined by Slovak player 
wision.
Quake 3 admined by me ( Legie) since noone wanted to admin 24 teams and I had lot of free time, I took the position of the head admin.
Quake 4 was Hawr1x’s job even thought that in the end he didn’t have too much work with it.
