Quake Voltage

The 1/2 Final of EC XVII in  UT3 is dated on 3rd of June at 23:00 CET. The reporter channel is #UT3.coverage. Both of the players won all of the previous matches. Some predictions were written by Bane and H2k|sebo.

Bane:

"Time for the 2nd semi-final of this cup, which will decide who is going to play in the final against the French Madjar! It could easily become an all French final if GoHLinK manages to beat he favorite for the end victory, Hypno, but it remains to be seen what is going to happen tonight as their internet has its moodswings and connection quality can vary by the second. So no matter who is going to win tonight, Im pretty sure it will be an exciting match.

Hypno is likely to be anyone’s favorite for the end victory since the start of the cup. He went through the group stage with confidence and only lost two maps if I remember correctly. He finished first in his group, with daddy, the other semi-finalist, who lost against Madjar, in his wake. SO he conquered a strong group and made his way to the semi’s without a lot of problens, full of spirit and ready to take on any challenge that meets him ahead. And tonight he will face on of the most dangerous challenges alive in this cup as GoHLinK has proven to be lethal".

"As said GoHLinK is going to be the opponent tonight. He also finished first in his group and took the victories without problems, leaving the rest standing in a pool of blood. He is a good all round player that is able to overcome foes on their own map choices and there is able to destroy their motivation for the next map. My hopes are that his clan, dignitas, has provided him with enough motivation to keep playing UT3 actively, as it seems to be a dying game without a future. But if you wish to challenge Hypno, on a serious day, you should bring out the heavy artillery, as you will need it!

So this war is going to be exciting from a spectators point of view. There is a chance that Hypno’s connection might give out, but as that chance is slim, we are probably going to see both players at their best. Talking about connection issues, I believe it was GoHLinKs that wasn’t as stable as it was supposed to be last time, as he DC’ed two or three times during a map. The odds are in slight favor of Hypno and this is due to his past results. But if GoHLinKis in shape, he should be able to compete with Hypno on a very high level. It’s going to be a thriller and after three maps we are likely to find out who the finalist will be!"

H2k|sebo:

"GoHLinK, without doubts the best UT player in France at the moment is beeing rated as a top 3 player in UT3 and he certainly deserves this awesome rating. He finished the huge enemydown tournament with a respectable third place and lost in a close final against Hypno at the i33 LAN in the UK. Also in the GameStar League he is winning almost all of his matches so far and is currently on rank 1 if I’m not mistaken. He finished the groupstage in this EuroCup with just two maplosses and advanced directly to the semifinal. Adding all those facts together it’s obvious that GoHLinK is a giant in UT3 duel and he certainly wants to proof it again tonight by playing against the portuguese powerhouse Hypno.

Hypno, currently the most successfull UT3 player in the short history of this game has won almost everything and seems to be unstoppable. If he is in his best shape it looks like he is simply playing on another level than everyone else so far. Especially on Deck he is able to build a map control, which is the hell on earth for every dueller. But, Hypno is a human, like everyone else and he is not unbeatable, we all know that. He has been playing several important games vs GoHLinK so far and all of them were extremely close and very enjoyable to watch. But I have no doubts that Hypno will be prepared and hot to add another victory to his growing list of achievements.

I think it wouldn’t be exxagurated if I call this the "Clash of the Titans", because it certainly is. Two of the arguably top 3 duel players in UT3, the Nr. 1 baguette and the portuguese powerhouse facing it each other. This match is very promising and it can really end either way. Of course most of the people still see a "slight" advantage in favor of Hypno, because he simply didnt lose any official match yet in UT3 (except the winner bracket final against kiLLu in the enemydown tournament), so I will just predict a 4-2 win in favor of Hypno. I hope we will see a great semifinal!"
