Quake Voltage

One of the best matches in EDL - the semifinal, that took place yesterday at 20:00 CET. The previous semifinal Guard and Cypher was canceled and then a tech win was given to Belarus player, because Guard was having problems with internet connection. This time two killers were fighting for spot in the finals:

k1llsen [1:3] K1llMaster

The first map was pro-q3dm6 - may be the strongest map of the German player. The first 5 minutes both players didn’t  achieve any frags and then K1llMaster tried to make some arcade move and lost the lead. That’s where k1llsen began to dominate on the map. He used a lot of rail and Russian player couldn’t make his stats higher than  k1llsen. K1llmaster managed to take some frags, but still German player was far in the lead. May be k1llsen had thought to early that the victory is in his hands and relaxed a bit. Russian player took this chance and made a huge comeback - 10:10 - out of respawns and even taking the lead 11:10. Still in the  end k1llsen managed to take more frags and finished the game 15:13 in his favor. A really nice demo to watch and to analize for the future!

2nd map was hub3aeroq3. This map also started in k1llsen’s favor and once again KillMaster had a great comeback within the last half of the match. He had a good timing, nice moves (as well as the faults). K1llsen had a better aim, but he spawned a lot, and gave Dark an opportunity to collect frags just from respawns. And that’s what Russian player did. In the end German player still managed to collect some frags ending with a result 24 to 30.

3rd map was ztn3tourney1. Again k1llsen took the lead 3:1, but then Dark made it a draw (3:3). Then he took 2 more frags. German dueler didn’t play very careful and was giving away the frags. Dark had good timing and it was 9:3 on the 6 minute of the match. But step by step  k1llsen was making a comeback, he took all the red armor and Dark all the megahealth. The score 9:4 didn’t change till the 9th minute of the match. This time k1llsen took the control of megahealth as well. Dark was making some stupid moves in the end of the match and was only collecting yellow armor. In the end k1llsen had more luck with aiming and powerups what lead to an overtime. While German player had better stats, Dark played a clever game, taking the megahealth or armor when the two powerups appeared at the same time. The arcade move with LG in the end of 16th minute lead Russian player to victory.

And the last map was again ztn3tourney1. But this time everything was in the other way. Dark dominated on the map during the whole game, performed an amazing timing and clever moves. He didn’t give any chance for the opponent to come close to him. "Russians have taken ztn to another level". The demo is a must to watch!
