Quake Voltage

Yesterday a game between #1German player - killsen and one of top Russian players Question met in European Duel League for Quake 3. There were 3 maps played - hub, dm6 and ztn. Killsen has been in the shadows recently, didn’t appear in any European leagues or tourneys. Question won the last QQC, but had some local defeats in Russia. Let’s check out the history of this match.

 Players were unable to find a fair server, that’s why maps were played on 2 different servers - horror.ru and catchgamer.

At the begining of the match both players played really careful and it took 3 minutes for killsen to take the first frag. Then the German player started demonstration of great timing, controlling both armors and megahealth and playing a clever game on the map. If he was giving mega health, he tried to take yellow armor, so his opponent couldn’t be fatter then he is. But still the score was 5-2 at the middle of the game, and only then German player had opportunity to kill Question several times from respawns. Actually, killsen didn’t bother about running for Question and taking that frag, he was just controlling the map and that’s what made him victorious. Final result:

Killsen took the leading from the first minutes and managed take more than 5 frags from respawns, but then something happened. After Question got some of powerups, he took a bit of map control and made his comeback. Sometimes it was easy to mention, that killsen didn’t know what to do, may be he was a bit shock of such a quick frag exchange. Question managed to took several frags in the end of the game and it helped him to win the match. Final score:

The third game was splitted in two, because of 2 servers usage. Maloy won the first half, demonstrating clever moves, but the second half - played on killsens’ server wasn’t so lucky for Russian player. Killsen overaimed his opponent, had a really wise strategy and was leading the whole match (half), not giving any frags to his opponent. Only at the end of the game Question managed to do something against killsen, but there were little time for a victory. Final score at ztn - 14:8 - killsen wins:
