Quake 3 EDL: first matches!
Published by Free April 23rd, 2008 in Demos Q3, Quake 3.
First matches of
Quake 3 European Duel League have been played. Organized by czech comunity with
Hawr1x and
Legie, this tourney invited 16 players that will compete for € 100 prize.
You can see group stage going to this location and let’s analize a bit of what had happened.
There were 4 games played:
Cypher [2:0]
ProZaC - both maps were ztn, and demos can be available here. Size 1.8 Mb.
Krysa [2:0]
ProZaC - both maps were hub and demos are here. Size 1.7 Mb
Killmas /aka/ Dark vs
impulse [2:0] - first map was hub, then players played ztn. Demos. Size 1.7 Mb
Now let’s take a look at the matches:
The first match was between Russian player
Killmas and Belgium player
impulse. First map was hub3aeroq3 - a pick of
impulse.
Killmaster showed his agressive style from the beginning of the match. The bad shape and preparation for the match of
impulse was also seeen.
Killmaster was just running through respawns and fraging his opponent, while
impulse instead of weating, was spawning after each kill. As a result -
Killmaster won with difference in 50 frags. Final score:

The second map was ztn3tourney1.
impulse got the first frags of the game, but when
Dark took the lead he didn’t let it go and managed to frag 2 times more kills then his opponent. Final score:

The demos on my opinion wished to be better. Both matches didn’t have some tough fight.
The second match we would like to analize is Belorus player
Cypher vs
Sweden player ProZaC.
Both players are presenting their countries oldschool. As we remember,
ProZaC mentioned he would try to pass Sweden ESWC qualifier and well-prepare for ESWC Grand Finals - it’s the statement from contract with
xLo, were he was sighned few months ago.
ProZaC seems to make EDL as his training camp, what shows his not impressive matches vs
Cypher and
Krysa.
Both matches with
Cypher were played on ztn3tourney1. First it was a tight game between players.
ProZaC was using a lot of rail, and overaimed his opponent, but
Cypher was making good map control and respawn holding. First map on ztn finished with score:

Second map was also ztn, think it was ProZac’s pick and he wanted to make a comeback. He played well, but lost control at the begining of the match. Again
ProZaC was overaiming his opponent but couldn’t do more then that.
Cypher is winning everything recently, begining from Asus Winter, when
Cooller was away. Final score, second ztn:
